Guest Speaker Councillor Ward addressed the meeting as he had to go to another meeting: Gareth noted:
• good news on unemployment in the Shoalhaven
• investment at HMAS Albatross, HMAS Creswell, Main Road 92, Mt Conjola deviation, goal.
• Management Plan process underway - $500k tentative for Coolangatta Road, on road cycleways a priority.
A question about the Entertainment Centre was asked it was recently reported that additions were required at $1.7m which would allow the centre to run at a “sustainable loss” - what is this loss. Gareth advised around $300k. This is disappointing when the building was designed by experts and should not have need alterations this early in its life. Also the ongoing loss was not fully explained to ratepayers when the building was approved.

Mayor Green accompanied Councillor Ward and stayed for the remainder of the meeting.

A question was asked about the build up of the sand in the notch – forum advised to contact Peter Adams of Council or Ray Massie regarding this matter.

Guest Speaker Kevin Sullivan – Shoalhaven Council – Holiday Haven Manager.
Kevin advised of the upgrades being proposed for the Shoalhaven Heads park including an aquatics area and new recreational equipment.
There is no access to this new pool for Shoalhaven Heads residents. Concern was expressed that residents do not benefit from these upgrades – some funds are made available to Council for general maintenance of other reserves.

Curtis Park Arboretum
Roger took the meeting attendees through the suggestions for the plan for Curtis Park. That Celia Place not be closed off as per the draft plan but place speed humps at twenty (20) metre intervals to control traffic speed.
That the proposed parking be extended to both sides of the road for the full length of the park.
That the access road to Meals on Wheels be realigned as shown.
That the existing track to Meals on Wheels be grassed over and that the boundary of the Arboretum be extended to include the entire western side of Curtis Park.
That the old BBQ be removed and relocated on the eastern side of the park until the proposed electric BBQs are installed.
Allow for a storage shed to be erected to house the Arboretum equipment. The preferred site is between the two toilet blocks.
That the Norfolk Island Pine marked for removal be retained.
It was generally agreed that these suggestions would be further discussed in June when Lila Sawko from Shoalhaven City Council will be attending the meeting to seek input for the review of the plan.
