Guest Speakers

Ken Merrifield from the Men’s Shed detailed the Boardwalk Proposal. The intention is to apply for funding from the Federal Govt Jobs Grant (SCC). The boardwalk would go from the Surf Club to the Wharf on River Road at a cost of approx $700k. It would be done in several stages, but needs to be commenced by July 2009. There is a Development Application already for the section from Surf Club to the Bird Watch Park. Council is prepared to assist with the application, which would be a long-term project over up to 18 months using Hunter Training Group and through Centrelink to give unemployed people a change to commence a pre-apprenticeship. National Parks and SCC have offered support with the final submission due in by 22nd May. The Bush Care Group has already been allocated $6k for a small section of a walk near the viewing platform.
It was moved by P Moate and seconded by Anne-Louise O’Connor that the forum supports the proposal for the project.
Carried unanimously.
