Reports Councilor Ward addressed the meeting early as he need to attend another function. Gareth spoke of:
* Condition of Bolong Road following roadwork's, this will need to be done again due to the wet weather and breaking up of the surface.
* School Zones on major roads and the need for these where schools are some distance away. In case if the zone at South Nowra and the one on Princes Highway Bomaderry.
* Shoalhaven River waterfront and the use of the waterfront for the benefit of residents and visitors.
How best to do this and preserve the environment.
Gareth then took general questions.

Neighbourhood Watch
Police Report Leading Senior Constable Paul Nancekeville addressed the meeting and spoke of:
* The positive effects of having a police office staying in Shoalhaven Heads over the Christmas break and the excellent community support which assisted to arrange this stay.
* The philosophy of zero tolerance for crime and the ongoing benefits
* The statistics and a comparison over previous years - he noted that stealing from cars are still and issue
* Police are visiting licensed premises to ensure compliance with licensing laws.

Business Arising
Minutes of Meetings - Carolyn Shields advised that copies of the minutes were being circulated through the community by leaving copies at Newsagency, Butchers, Lettuce Inn, Caltex Service Station, and will consider the Doctors surgeries also.
Heads Youth Park - project funds of $1049.42 presented to Community Forum via Geoff James. Following consultation with Geoff, Robyn Flack moved a motion that the funds are divided equally between the Junior Soccer Club and the Surf Club Nippers. This was carried unanimously.

Guest Speaker
Michael Strachan from Shoalhaven City Council addressed the meeting to advise on the content of the Waterways Strategy as it related to a floating pontoon at the River Road Reserve. Michael advised that the approximate cost of such a facility was $140K and that it is not envisaged that this would happen until say 2011, as Jervis Bay and Ulladulla are higher on the priority list. In addition there is a facility at Grays Beach in Nowra on the Shoalhaven River and a new facility planned for Greenwell point.

Report of the Shoalhaven Heads Chamber of Commerce and Tourism -
Ann-Louise O'Connor advised:
* Having a police officer staying in the SCC Holiday Haven Caravan Park over the holiday break was a success
* The "light up your house" competition of Christmas Lights proved very worthwhile. Thanks to John & Carol Greenaway for the chauffeuring of judges.
* A debriefing following the police presence over Christmas will be held to determine if this can be done again next year.

Report of the Shoalhaven Heads Community and Progress Association.
Council Business December - January.
1. HOSPITAL PARKING. Council is pursuing a plan to increase parking at the District Hospital by 52 places. Council's contribution will be in the order of $240k.
2. ALCOHOL EXCLUSION ZONES. The NSW Police Dept. listed 32 places within the City where antisocial behaviour has occurred, however, Curtis Park and the Memorial Park does not appear on the list, or on any Council lists. I move that we write to Council advising them of this anomaly. - Carried Unanimously
3. HEADS COMMUNITY CENTRE. The audited figures for our Community Centre stood at $5964.66 as at 30th June '07.
4. SPORTING CLUBS FUNDING. The Voluntary User Contributions Policy was discussed at the Council Meeting on 18th December. The conditions are laid out in POL07/129. Any Sporting Club that has not received this information should contact Council for a copy. Copy available for perusal.
5. MUSLIM BURIALS. Our society is changing; consequently Council is now required to have suitable sites available for Muslim burials. 10 sites have been reserved in each of Sandridge Cemetery and West Cambewarra Cemeteries. An additional fee of $500 is payable to meet the requirements of Muslim burial practice.
6. INCREASE IN WATER CHARGES. Residents can expect an increase of 3.8% for their water charges this year.
7. BOAT RAMPS. Upgrade of the Greenwell Point boat ramp will go ahead with grant money. NSW Maritime does not support the upgrade of the Callala boat ramp due to the navigational hazards present and the costs involved in surveying and appropriate marking. However, Council intends to proceed despite these objections.

Report by Forum President Philip Armstrong
Philip advised that Ron Traynor and Roger Tilley were sorting and collating the survey on sale of excess land. Ron advised on the sorting process and noted that only one response could not be interpreted. The documents will be handed over to Council with the collating. Results will be available to the community at 7pm on Wednesday 13th February at the Shoalhaven Heads Sports and Social Club (to be confirmed) Bush care report - Ruth Cave
Ruth advised that the groups had not met during January.
Groups will recommence as follows:
Golf Club group (Noel Schneider 44487680) - recommence on Wednesday 20th February at 0800 to 1000 and then fortnightly on the week when recycling bins are collected.
River Road group (Lyn Gilchrist 44487903) - currently doing general maintenance, they will have a special day attacking morning glory (convolvulus)
Beach group (Ruth Cave 44487143)- work each Tuesday morning weather permitting 0800-1000 regenerating the bush between Holiday Haven Caravan Park and the Beach.

It is hoped to form a new group to tackle the lantana on Coolangatta Mountain. The on site meeting was postponed due to rain. The Berry Landcare Group is facilitating this.

Shoalhaven Heads Community Centre report
Trevor Aspin was please to report that this year the "Santa" was not removed from the roof of the Community Centre over the Christmas break. The centre is currently in deficit due to maintenance costs. General Business

1 Ron Traynor noted that two Myna Birds had taken up residence in Curtis Park and that they seemed to be offering a challenge to the Mens Shed who is building traps.
2 Robyn Flack moved a Motion, seconded by Lydon Rea that we write to Council requesting a couple of truck loads of clean sand be dumped on the river edge near the children's playground on River Road Reserve. The previous sand has now disappeared and the area is covered in weed and mud. Carried unanimously.
