Neighbourhood Watch- Police Report
Senior Constable Paul Nancekevill addressed the meeting and advised:
• Offenders who were charged for the assault early this year received $1000 fine and three year good behaviour bond. It is hoped that these offenders will rehabilitate and be good citizens in the future.
• Local house break-ins have occurred while residents sleep – make sure your house is secure at all times.
• Minor assault last friday night – CCTV assists with facts.
• Minor incidents with bins burnt.
• One suicide and one attempt – both elderly gentlemen – please interact with people you know may be finding life lonely or hard.

Guest Speakers Jane Lewis –
Acting City Services Manager addressed the meeting regarding Councils proposal to extend the opening hours of the village pool. Jane covered the elements of the proposal and outlined the potential risks to not having full time supervision and the need for controlled access to the pool. Key issues are – controlled access - key – swipe card – child proof gate. How will the hours work and the volunteer participation in opening and closing the pool what problems will arise. How will emergencies by managed. Could the use of the facility be enhanced – eg solar water heating to raise the water temperature by a few degrees.

Jane was thanked for attending and Council for bringing forward an idea for increased hours.

Report of the Shoalhaven Heads Chamber of Commerce and Tourism –
Anne-Louise O'Connor advised that the Project for a walkway from the Surf Club has not received approval as yet – still awaited. Coolangatta Estate has won its 1000th wine award. A letter has been sent from the Chamber to the Sunrise TV show to suggest Fifi Box televise from Shoalhaven Heads one morning.
Ken Merrifield has accepted a position on the Southern Tourism Board.

Report of the Shoalhaven heads Community and progress Association–
Philip Armstrong tabled the council documents and mentioned:
• Bishop development has been approved
• Swimming pools and the recent Council initiative
• New Retirement village south of Milton
• Paper estates and their cost to Council.
Men’ Shed Report
Trevor Aspin reported:
· the mens shed is now on to the 3rd extension of the building - extension number two was recently inspected.
· Works in progress on the Ceclia park tables and chairs – two complete.
· Relocation of the business signage at Shoalhaven Heads entrance to near Tall Timbers Caravan Park will be done shortly.

Shoalhaven Heads Community Forum Bushcare Report
Shoalhaven Heads group have been clearing lantana near the bridge in Shoalhaven Heads Rd and bitou, lantana and leonotis around the viewing platform & sand spit. Contact Ruth, 44487143.River Rd group are continuing planting (150 so far) and propagating their own stock and hope to be self sufficient by next year. Contact Lynne, 44487903. Coolangatta Mountain group are clearing mainly lantana, contact Myke, 0418297436. Golfers group are making progress with lantana & the nursery has been rebuilt & seed stock is being collected, contact Noel, 44487680. Teachers and pupils from Shoalhaven Heads Public School helped members of all the local groups & SCC Bushcare Co-ordinator, Alasdair Stratton, plant approx 340 shrubs & ground cover in the area around the bird airport and the viewing platform for Tree Day on 31st July. The students behaviour was a credit to their parents & the school. Rabbit control with Pindone will be carried out commencing 29th August. Volunteers are still required for all groups.

Shoalhaven Heads Community Centre report -
Trevor Aspin advised that the AGM is this month. Other issues are the water account is high $200 – they now have a quote for the blinds and the brickwork in the back wall is cracking. Council has inspected the wall.

Curtis Park Arboretum – Roger away no report.

General Business
1 Councillor Ward then addressed the meeting speaking of:
• Shoalhaven Heads Golf Club – 2C environmental Conservation land
• Recently chaired the Development committee
• Coolangatta Road – some funds approved but in need of shoulder upgrade
• Number of Development applications is increasing
• The way Council deals with local businesses in tender process – a local loading would be beneficial if this complied with competition policy.
• Support for extended swimming hours at village pools
Gareth answered questions on bottled water – still needed from a commercial point of view – but adds to land waste and local water is safe to drink.
Climate change and sea levels - council must be mindful when approving development.
The number of illegal developments and paper estates how this increases the load on other ratepayers to provide services. DCP 115 Dual occupancy – review of policy. Local Govt elections costs increased due to State Govt imposts.
2 Moved Philip Armstrong seconded Bob King that we write to Council regarding the dangerous edges on Coolangatta road and the need for maintenance to ensure the safety of cyclists and the motoring public. Carried unanimously.

3 Noel then informed the meeting of:
• Rabbit baiting – late august early September
• graffiti at the surf club has been reported
• Broken road surface near golf club has been reported to Council
• Tennis courts have a new surface
• September is the AGM for the forum
• Carpark at Community Centre will commence 17th August and complete before State finals
• Alistair advised there is a Dept of Labour and Industry grant for fish habitat funding.
• Helo North – there was a general meeting and complaints can now be put online
• Rails broken around Vic Zealand oval
• Rust on play equipment being reviewed by Council
4 Moved Terry Lillie seconded Kevin Huckle that we write to Council regarding the land which is currently 2C going to E2 LEP 2009 and request that this land be zoned to allow the golf club to expand appropriately. Carried unanimously
