the events on Anzac Day. He stressed that there are strict guidelines
concerning the service of alcohol and that victims of crimes committed due to

There has also been an increase in the number of homeless people in our area.
People are asked to contact the police so that accommodation can be found for
them through the correct channels.
Paul also notified the meeting that he has now been appointed to a permanent
position in our area.
Guest Speakers Paul Green, the Mayor. –
The Mayor outlined the progress of the fundraising efforts for the Linear
Accelerator in the Shoalhaven.
The SCC is trying to get other local councils
on the south coast to support the idea of a South Coast cancer Centre, which
would also incorporate the Linear Accelerator.
The Mayor is the head of the
fundraising committee, which has raised $860,000. The projected cost of the
whole project is approximately $3 to $5 million.
The mayor answered questions from the floor, including parking at the
Shoalhaven Hospital, the current state of the project at Comberton Grange and
the financial position of the council following the downturn in the world
economic situation. The Mayor also indicated that his door is always open and
he is available to all Shoalhaven residents.
Councillor Andrew Guile
Councillor Guile addressed the meeting and spoke on the budget process
undertaken by the council and how it differed from previous years. Expenses
have risen by 3% above projected revenues. Borrowings are considered to be
on the conservative side. There will be a 3.8% increase in rates in the next
financial year.
He also spoke of the projected losses for the Shoalhaven Entertainment centre
and that key staff were now in place to manage and promote the centre.
Councillor Guile also mentioned that the Princes Highway was not included in
the Federal government’s budget and that the NSW government needs to
