The Home Compost Program will be done again and registrations are being taken now. If people would like to do a refresher course they are most welcomed. Registrations can be done on the SCC web site and training is available, evenings, days as well as Saturday morning. Registrations close on the 12th December.
Brochures were left explaining the disposal of old TV's and computers.
Chemical collections are also coming up.
There is also a Sharps Program called stickler which is a free program for dropping off needles and syringes. There are a lot of local chemists that are participating in this program and they can also be dropped off at the hospital.
People need to be aware that there are 3 different sizes of garbage bins which could save rate payers if they have a smaller bin. The council is also running a "Magical Mystery Tour". These tours are conducted to show people the materials recovery section to explain to explain how the land fill operates. If local organisations from Shoalhaven Heads get together and have a minimum of 23 people the council will send a bus out to take people on this tour and lunch is provided.

Bush care Report: Shoalhaven Heads Community Forum
All groups have been busy checking regrowth, clearing & treating weeds. The SCC bush regeneration team will be working on the sand pit during November.
There is still a vandalism problem with fires in the bird airport. SCC advisory signs pulled out of the ground, trees destroyed, fences removed and rubbish dumped. Ratepayer's money is being wasted to rectify these acts of destruction. Authorities have been notified & the area is being patrolled.
Volunteers are still required and times & day can be arranged to suit, please contact a co-ordinator, River Rd Group, Lynne 44487903, Coolangatta Mountain Group, Myke 0418297436, Shoalhaven Heads Group or Golfers Group Noel 44487680.

ARBORETUM REPORT.
Some further planting has taken place with the establishment of three different types of tree fern and other ferns including the giant Fraser Island fern that will develop fronds up to six metres long. We were also given four magnificent birds nest ferns which have been placed in the most sheltered areas of the gardens. These areas are now complete and will develop to their full potential in the next few years.
We also have placed a very nice grass tree in an area where we hope to develop a grass tree display. This apparently requires Council approval as we originally only mentioned one plant.
The number of visitors is increasing but we would ask parents to restrain their children from running on the gardens as they now contain many small plants that are not very visible at this time.
We are still waiting for Council to take some action with regard to the placement of bollards to protect both the Arboretum and the playground areas from vehicle incursions. Mr. Neil Southorn, the Planning Manager has been on leave so we are hopeful of a decision before Christmas. The Men's Shed and the Park Care Group will combine to install these when they become available.
We are still waiting on the outcome of some of our funding applications to begin other projects that include plant identification signage and brick edging for the gardens.
We will begin planning our next five year development plan over the next few months so that Council will have plenty of time to approve our expectations for the project.

General Business
Roger Tilley showed concern that no one is interested in the emergency evacuation plan. Some of the information on the web site is incorrect and at present does not know how this problem can be fixed and the authorities have said that it is not their problem. It could not be a legal matter. SES and Government need to look at this problem.
The question was asked about the surveillance cameras in Nowra and it was explained that when and if the police can use the information gathered on the cameras to prosecute they will be turned on.
Gareth Ward will stay on as Ward 1 Councillor.
It was asked for a letter to be sent to Matt Brown with a copy to Gareth Ward in relation to the lack of police activity in the community especially over the Christmas Holidays.
Moved by Roger Tilley seconded Rae Patton.

The sewage work upgrade is progressing. Sand is going to Reg Ryan's Turf Farm and the landscaping will commence shortly. Anne Louise O'Connor and Ken Merrifield are overseeing the landscaping project and it is looking like being finished around November 2011.

A wreath will be laid for Remembrance Day.
Aged care facility still waiting on response from the State Government.
Coolangatta Rd black spot - funding is becoming available.
Carols by Candle Light will be held at the school again this year.
The golf club will be taking a lot of the recycled water and they are currently installing a pumping station to facilitate this and have also applied for government funding.
There will be a meeting held for 7 Mile Beach Fun Run this Sunday 7th November at the Surf Club at 2.00 pm and it would be good to see some local bodies and the community to get behind this to attract tourists to our Village. Committees will need to be formed to get this off the ground.

The Postal Institute are not putting plan 3 into council and there is still time for people to comment on this. They are now trying to break up the land into separate blocks. The original proposal was a holiday place and parking underneath. We will now have to wait till the plan is submitted to council then action can be taken. The zoning is the question mark at the moment.
