Greg Thompson from SCC spoke on rabbit control within the village. Training will be on 20th April at 4pm at River Road Reserve. Control methods will be put in place early may.
Avalynne Wilby detailed the SCC composting program and encourages residents to join. She said this if residents do not have access to the internet they can call at SCC and Council staff will assist.

Report of the Shoalhaven Heads Chamber of Commerce and Tourism
Anne-Louise OConnor informed members on the progress of the lady injured in the car accident on the previous weekend. The Chamber is assisting with costs by donating to the local garage to cover travel costs. All are welcome to contribute.
Bushcare Report: Shoalhaven Heads Community Forum
Shoalhaven Heads Group have been checking regrowth around the viewing platform & meet at the beach end of River Rd on Tuesday 7th April and every other Tuesday at 8:00am. Funding has been received to extend the pathway from the viewing platform to the beach. Contact Ruth on 44487143.
The Golfers Group have been clearing lantana between fairways & checking regrowth & will meet on Wed 29th April at 8:00am in the Golf Club car park and on alternate Wednesdays. Contact Noel on 44487680.
In March River Rd Group has planted 200 plants along the riverbank. Call Lynne on 44487903.
Coolangatta Mountain Group are well into their targeted area for 2009 and will meet at the end of Roxborough Rd on the 1st Saturday of the month and the 3rd Sunday at 1:00pm.Contact Myke 0418297436. SCC will review the weeds at the bridge in Shoalhaven Heads Rd & clear the footpath before the bridge.
A co-ordinated rabbit control programme will be implemented around the village on 25th April 7th May 09.

Mens Shed Report
Trevor Aspin reported:
· Stock of myna bird traps sold 60 to date production staring again
· Appliction to fix shelter shed in Celia Place approved awaiting funding
· Mens Shed have applied for Community Development grant
· AGM held same exec elected new fund raisers Richard Sterngrube and Alan Foster.
· BBQ at Bunnings 5th April.

Curtis Park Arboretum
Roger Tilley reported that a very productive meeting was held with Glenn Elliotts Councils Parks Officer. They were given a number of pointers and received a folder detailing methods used by Parks Care Groups covering issues such as OHS. Roger thanked Anne-Louise for the publicity the arboretum received. The theme of the park will be Trees of Eastern Australia.
Roger finished off by seeking formal endorsement of the Committee.

General Business

Robyn Flack reported on the Community Consultative Bodies meeting held at Council on 12th March. The meeting covered finance, infrastructure, development plans and general topics. Mayor Paul Green said he was in favour of a back to basics approach. Valuations from the VG have been applied with overall rate rise to be around 5% for 2009/10. The entertainment centre has lost its manager and Council is now looking at different models of management to manage the centre. The centre has inadequate toilets and now will need to spend more funds to rectify.

Lisa Rugy representing Jerry Bailey Pre School gave an overview of the centre. 49 children are now using the centre with low turnover. They have received approval from Department of Community Services to increase the daily number to 29. Lisa commented on the excellent quality of staffing the centre has and how funds are raised to support the centre. Well done Jerry Bailey it is wonderful to have such a high quality pre school within the village.

A follow up on an emergency evacuation plan for the village was discussed. Is this the SES?? a follow up with SCC will be made.

Deputy Mayor Gareth Ward addressed the meeting Gareth spoke of:
Helo North the department of defence has an area for helicopter training in the northern shoalhaven. This is a necessary requirement and although there are times when there is a noise issue the benefits to the community should be recognised.

Budget Council is spending more than they have in income changes required
$10k approved for stormwater drains on the river bank near river road
Roads to recovery approval of $7.1m
DA Evolve building Bishop this is a quality development application for the land near the surf club and it would be good to see it proceed
Swimming pool there will no longer be a break in the middle of the day
A Northern Leisure centre is needed.

Noel Schneider reported that a number of dogs were being allowed to roam free within the village and this is proving a problem for residents. Some further bush clearing is need to ensure fire control is maintained.
