Report from Chairman community centre
Once again water has gone from the community centre in very large quantities and the was extremely large. The following quarter it went to $283.00 a letter has gone to council to let them know. We put security on external taps but they were still taking water all taps has been taken off and plugs have been installed. The only way they can get water is go to the metre and a lot of mucking around to get the water. The council has been asked to have a look and ascertain what can be done to stop this from happening.

It has been suggested that a lock be put on the metre and that would mean if anyone wants to use the community centre someone will have to be on hand to open the metre so that water can be used.

Terry Lillie
Spoke about an update re golf could 6th December a DA will be going to a development committee then a full council meeting and then to DECQA in Canberra. Once this has happened then we have to do a vegetation management plan. Hopefully by xmas we may have the go ahead.
John D mentioned that it may be possible to have the Council meeting in the heads to get more representation to help getting the extra 3 holes.
It has been approved to have a Tooheys sign up to let people know that there is a club there.
Trevor asked about the legalities of driving into the drivewar at the golf course and it is owned by the Jurinja council. This means that we canot get into the club and they wanted rent or for the club to purchase this land. They wanted $7500 too enter our club asked to speak to the CEO of the Jurinja tribe and Robert Maynard was not there he has actually passed on. Since then letter have gone to them and to the State Government to make sure that we do not have to pay this to enter into the driveway. Terrie is speaking with Matt Brown and he is working for us and wont be long. We can bypass it and we can put in a track and that will cost $50,000.

Gareth Ward - Councillor
Addressed all at the meeting. Some news delighted to report that we have turned on the CCC cameras. Happy about this as at the moment there is still a court case going on. If the battle is won for common sense there is nothing stopping us from leaving them on until a decision is made. The cameras have been used in the affray in Junction street. Dealing with the local environment plan was to seek zoning of land for a retirement village in Shoalhaven heads and it has been managed to turn around what the oucncil was cgoing to do. Section of land will be made available for a retirement village adjacent to Scott Street. Asking for the forum to support this and then we can go to a private developer to help with this. It has been a very busy time leading up to the new year. On the golf club application and garreth has put his name down and to help fight for this. We wil have his 110 support fighting for the golf course.

On the village pool we had Jane Lewis come and speak and there was some great ideas about the community to take over the village pool. We would also like to speak to the livesavers what they have come up with is that council put out a contract similar to Kangaroo Valley and would not be in a position to take this over till next year. Robin Flack would be putting this to the meeting. Gareth said that he would be behind this and support what ever the forum decided.

Question to Gareth from Mr Riddel you cannot get past the soccer club and the fire station blue metal to fill in the holes Gareth said that he will go and have a look at it and follow this up.

Has the guide post been put in and the answer was no. He will also look at this they have been ordered. Gareth is pushing to have the people that do vandalism to go and fix what they have done.

Jon Greenaway retirement is north side of scott street which is the land owned by the crown.

Noel Sneider with the Bush Care Report.
Thanked everyone helping out with bush care over the years the Juringa lads have been out doing week control at the end of river road. The ran has interrupted this at the moment and they are still trying to get it finished. Over the year between the golf club group and the bush care group about 300 hours have been put in. with the development at the sewarge plant a lot of lantana will be nocked down. Going into recess in the end of December and start back up in the end of January. A stall is going be at the twilight markets doing education on weed control. With the weed problem on the aboriginal land why cannot the council take this up with the aboriginal people that own the land. Lantana is an evasive weed not a noxious weed. Noel said that he will get onto this and see what can be done about the problem.

Report from council -
have 2 northern areas consultative body meetings a year and Noel attended. There was only us berry and Cambewarra. At the last meeting we wrote a letter to matt brown re police numbers we had a vandalism problem at the van park went into the police station to report it and only one person and said that he could not help but gave noel a number to ring and he then had to report this to the council Paul did not know anything about it and it was again suggested about the lack of numbers however it has been announced that 6 new police were to be stationed at Nowra. At the meeting Noel said they should update there report at council and they should be telling the police that vandalism is happing on council land so that the police may be able to act. Paul said that you can leave a message on his mobile number or send him a email. The assistant general manager brought up about funding for community groups. The council web site they want feed back on it. Noel said that he feels it very hard to use. There is a new tree policy out and a duel occupancy and all the villages are different depending on there size. Talked about having future council meetings in the villages. Coastal developments and the only place that it is effecting is the surf club. Asked to get information electronically so that we can respond more quickly.
The next meeting is March.

Senior Constable Paul Nanskiville and his is not just report on crime in Shoalhaven heads he is also our guest speaker.

Statistics - some big problems month of November break and enter at the pizza place, stealing mountain view Shoalhaven head caravan park, stealing in mountain village, break and enteer 9 mcintosh st., stealing Coolangatta, melisish damabe back forest rd. 25 lovegrove stealing, stealing Shoalhaven heds rd. wells place, scott st shackleton, the police have theories on all the stealings have a look at his report - see anne louise. He said that if you are going to leave a car unlocked take your valuables out of them. This also applies to homes as well. 6th and 7th November was when most of these he feels that there were a lot more that was not reported it does not matter how small the theft it helps the police if it is reported to get a pattern and he has 3 main suspects and working hard.to bring this to a holt. Now that he is back it hopefully will not occur and the heat will be on. The duty office that was reported to the meeting and he immediately passed this onto paul.

The situation with the closing down of berry police station and from a police officer on the ground dealing with street crime he does not appreciate with politics in his area. As he has spent 3 years bringing this town into a good report and he feels that when the news lets people know that there are not police in berry then that is when the problems begin. Paul feels that too much of his time is taken up filling in reports and he feels that he could be better value on the streets. He is not against the efforts put into domestic violence but the government had made it very difficult with all the statistics that they want reported and he should be on the streets it is not core business and taken the police away from core business.

What paul would like people to do in his area is do not use the police assistance line but to contact paul if he is not working that day you can leave a message and he will follow it up. This is the advantage of having your own designated officer in the area. He has been told that berry is hear to stay but does not know for how long hoping long term. This xmas paul and kangaroo valley have put themselves on Thursday night and weekend nights to have an appearance so hopefully there will not be the problems and we will have dedicated policing. Over summer there will be back up

Noel asked Paul what would be the best way of reporting incidents would it be an advantage to have a neighbourhood person that people can let know that they can then report to Paul. Especially if people think that it is trivial however paul wants to know so that he can nip it in the bud. He would like to know the height of people etc so that he can match people that he is looking at. It would be a lot of work butt he said that he would be happy to work with someone if that is the way. Last wed night there was an after party matthew was trashed was this incident reported. The after party was in ravenscliffe and a number of people that paul is interested in were there, action was taken on that night and obviously there were still a lot of problems. They hung around and kept on coming back to keep this situation in check.

General business
Robin, moved a motion ; we write to council re the pool
Write to council and councillor.
Seconded Mr tilley

Trevor said that he would encourage people to let people know that the word is that there is police activiely working in the area spread the rumour and it will help with the problems that we are having.
